New Transport for Asphalt Feeder

Low loaders outside head officeWith the development of the new mechanised asphalt feeder, transportation of the paving crew to and from site had to be re-evaluated.

Initially during development of the feeder the asphalt division had used our low loader when not delivering slipform paving machines or alternatively contract hauliers.

However in keeping with the company's philosophy and desire to maintain as many operations and activities in house and under our direct control as possible, alternative specialised transport had to be considered.

Low loaders outside head officeSix wheel Scania 94D 300 horse power rigid trucks, fitted with specialised plant bodies and low angle approach ramps were chosen. Safety as always was carefully considered and reversing cameras, rear park distance control, high illumination lighting to facilitate loading & unloading at night and climate control for the driver were fitted.

The 10 metre bed allows not only the asphalt feeding machine to be transported but also an asphalt kerbing machine. The machine is lifted on and off the truck by the feeding machine.

Our kerbing crew and ancillary equipment continue to travel to site in customised Transit vans towing the primary kerbing machine behind. The spare kerbing machine now transported to every job site means that, on the rare occasion that breakdown occurs, our customer never knows, and as always every job is completed on schedule
